How to Install Snip & Sketch

Check for Pre-Installation

On most Windows 10 and 11 systems, Snip & Sketch is already installed by default. To check, click the Start Menu and type "Snip & Sketch". If it appears in the search results, it is ready to use. If not, you can easily install it from the Microsoft Store.

Install via Microsoft Store

If the app is missing, the simplest way to install it is through the official store.

1. Open the Microsoft Store from your Start Menu.
2. Use the search bar in the top-right to search for "Snip & Sketch".
3. Select the app from the results and click the "Install" or "Get" button. The app will download and install automatically on your system.

Using the Application

Opening the App

You can launch Snip & Sketch directly or use a keyboard shortcut for faster access. Press Windows Key + Shift + S to instantly activate its screenshot bar without opening the full app. Your screen will dim, and a toolbar will appear at the top of your screen.

Taking a Screenshot

Once the toolbar is active, you can choose your snip type:

• Rectangular Snip: Drag the cursor to create a rectangle.
• Freeform Snip: Draw any freehand shape.
• Window Snip: Select an entire application window.
• Fullscreen Snip: Capture your entire screen.

After taking a snip, a notification will appear. Clicking it opens the screenshot in the Snip & Sketch app, where you can annotate, crop, and share it.
